Are you trying to decide if you should use wordpress.org or wordpress.com for your blog or website? If so, you’re in the right place! This article will provide an overview of the differences between the two website building platforms and give you some tips on how to make a decision about which one is right for you.

WordPress.org vs WordPress.com

WordPress.org is an open-source content management system (CMS) that allows anyone to build and maintain their own website or blog without any coding knowledge. It offers a wide range of features, plugins, and themes that can be used to customize and design your site exactly how you want it. There is no cost to use WordPress.org, but it does require web hosting and domain registration fees to get started. I recommend you purchase your hosting through Siteground (affiliate link) or I can organise this for you through my Website Care Plan.

WordPress.com, on the other hand, is a hosted version of WordPress with limited customization options and features compared to WordPress.org. It also requires no technical knowledge or coding skills, making it easy for anyone to create a website without having to worry about setting up web hosting or registering a domain name. There are free plans available on WordPress.com but they come with limited features such as ads being displayed on your site and not being able to install custom themes or plugins–you must stick with what’s available through their platform only.

Should I use WordPress.org or WordPress.com?

WordPress.org is the best option for those looking to create a professional website or blog that requires greater flexibility and customization options than what WordPress.com offers. With WordPress.org you will have access to thousands of themes, plugins, and other features which can be used to customize your site exactly how you want it. Additionally, since you are hosting the website yourself, you will have complete control over your site and can make changes or updates at any time.  I always recommend setting your website up on wordpress.org because it gives you the ultimate flexibility.

Making the decision between wordpress.org and wordpress.com comes down to personal preference. If you’re looking for more customization options & freedom then go for the self-hosted WordPress.org route – just keep in mind that it requires web hosting & domain registration fees. On the other hand if want something up & running quickly without having to worry about all those technical aspects then opt for WordPress.com – just be aware that there are limitations when it comes customizing your site . Whichever route you decide , make sure it aligns with your long term goals.
